About Me
I’m a full-time editor and sometime writer currently at the New York Times News Service, where I’ve polished work from Michael Chabon and trimmed Dexter Filkins‘ war reporting for use in other newspapers. Before joining the news service, I completed internships at The Chronicle of Higher Education and The Bradenton Herald, and I also logged hundreds of long nights writing and editing for my college paper, The Independent Florida Alligator. In 2009, I graduated from the University of Florida with honors, earning degrees in religion and journalism.
Most of my journalism experience has centered on editing and political reporting, but I also enjoy writing about culture, religion and international issues. Over the years, assignments have allowed me to interview activists, professors, rabbis, scientists, doctors, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, author Carl Hiaasen, former Florida Gov. Bob Graham, comedian Jim Gaffigan, and singer/actress Mandy Moore — among many, many others.
I’m a Florida native, a sometime fan of the Oxford comma, and a former Borders bookseller.
